Hello! My name is Misti Hullinger. This is my ninth year as a full-time teacher at Milan C-2. Before beginning my career as a teacher I was a substitute teacher in our district for many years. Watching our students grow academically throughout the years has been a wonderful experience! I graduated from Milan C-2 in 2002 (once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.) In 2011 I received my Baccalaureate Degree in elementary education with an endorsement in Reading from Graceland University. In 2018 I earned my Masters degree in Literacy Instruction through Graceland University. Currently, I am teaching fifth-grade reading and sixth-grade reading/writing. Teaching is not only my career, it is my passion. This Chinese Proverb expresses my thoughts: “If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.” I hope that I teach my students not only what they need academically, but also values, morals and the attributes needed to become a well-rounded citizen of our community and country. My favorite part of teaching is the ‘AHA’ moment, or the light bulb moment- the moment a child figures something out for the first time. I love seeing their eyes light up when they learn something new! I reside in the Milan C-2 School District area and live just a little way outside of town. In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
