Her favorite high school memory is winning second place with her Agricultural Issues Forum team at the Missouri State FFA Convention.  The class Avery enjoyed the most was Anatomy and Physiology class because it was super interesting to her, and all of her friends were in her class. Her biggest pet peeve is people being disrespectful towards others. Outside of school, Avery enjoys playing catch with her dad in the backyard. If she had one wish, it would be to have a cowboy who wants her (Megan Moroney). The three words that best describe her are loud, enthusiastic, and compassionate. After High School, Avery plans to go to the University of Missouri- Columbia and get her degree in agricultural education. In 10 years, she sees herself teaching agricultural education and having a family. Three things on her bucket list are to go to a Lantern Festival, finally make it up to the top of the State Capitol, and have a family. The person she admires most is her dad because he has always supported her throughout any event that she was a part of. He also taught her everything she knows about sports and FFA. The teacher who had the biggest impact on Avery is Ms. Fullerton because she was always there for Avery whenever she needed her. The thing Avery will miss the most about Milan C-2 High School is her friends.  If there was one way she could be remembered at MHS, it would be being a professional talker. The advice Avery would give underclassmen is that you have four years in high school, make the best out of it, go out of your way to make new friends and memories. These years are going to go by so fast, so make the most out of them.

She is the daughter of Christopher and Melissa Pickering and the sister of Avery, William, and Abby Pickering. Her favorite activity to do with her family is going on vacations. Amy has been involved in Track (2), Basketball (4), Softball (4), Student Council (1), National Honor Society (2), Multicultural Club (1), FBLA (2), and FFA (3), at Milan C-2.  The activity she enjoys most is basketball because it is a sport she has played all throughout elementary and growing up. Playing with the same group of girls has given her a bond she will cherish forever. Her favorite high school memory is when the senior class won the homecoming Olympics. She loved the school spirit and the energy the students created in support of each other.  The class Amy enjoyed the most was Greenhouse with Ms. Fullerton because she could learn about more plants and work with them hands-on. She even started and propagated African violets which hold a special place in her heart since her great-grandmother grew them as well.  Her biggest pet peeve is hearing people who chew their food with their mouths open, even just the sound of people chewing gets her on edge.  Outside of school, Amy enjoys hanging with her friends, spending time with her animals, and visiting family. If she had one wish, it would be to create a more equitable society, where everyone is treated fairly. The three words that best describe her are hardworking, creative, and loyal  After High School, Amy plans to attend North Central Missouri College for two years. Where she plans to play Flag Football and obtain her associate's degree in an agricultural field. The people she admires most are the people in her family that have never given up on her and were always there to support her endeavors. The coach that had the biggest impact on Amy was her childhood softball coach, Howie Lynch. Coach Lynch pushed Amy out of her comfort zone, allowing her to not only find a passion for sports but also be open to trying new things.  The thing Amy will miss the most about Milan C-2 High School is having a PE class with Mrs. Dabney. If there was one way she could be remembered at MHS, it would be as someone that never settled for the answer “no”.  The advice Amy would give underclassmen is that you are only in high school once, so have fun with it, but take your classes seriously when you need to.

Nevaeh goes out of her way to show she ‌cares about Jewell. When Nevaeh had premature twins, she stayed strong through their time in the hospital it showed her how far her sister is willing to go for the people she loves. The teacher that had the biggest impact on Jewell is her 8th grade Algebra teacher, Mrs. Dodson. Mrs. Dodson pushed Jewell to do the best she could, soon making her love math. The thing Jewell will miss the most about Milan C-2 High School is hanging out with her friends and always having a good laugh. If there was one way she could be remembered at MHS, it would be as the white girl who speaks Spanish. The advice Jewell would give underclassmen is to stop trying to fit in and to stand out.

MAP Testing is quickly approaching. With that being said, we are trying to make this a positive experience for the students and are asking for your help! We would love for every student to have a positive/encouraging letter to read the day we start MAP testing just to give them a smile and positive thoughts before they test. If you know a 3rd or 4th grade student and would like to write them a letter please fill out the google form below. We will be able to print this and give it to the students the first morning of testing (April 23rd). This is a secret so please do not tell them. Please have this form filled out by Wednesday April 16th. Thank you so much for your support. We are excited to see the excitement these letters bring to the students.
