Yesterday was Upward Bound campus day at Truman! Our UB students traveled with Ms. Holt and enjoyed a campus visit with other UB students from around the area.

🎉🎉2026 Senior Spotlight 🎉🎉Today, we’re celebrating one of our seniors! 🎓
Juan Pablo Alvarez Rodriguez will be a 2026 graduate of Milan C-2 High School and is the son of Gerardo Vega and Angelica Rodriguez and brother of Gerardo Alvarez. His favorite activity to do with his family is traveling out of the country. His favorite childhood memory is when he went to Sky Zone for the first time with his friends.
Juan has been involved in Track (4), Band (3), and the Multicultural Club (1) at Milan C-2. The activity he enjoys most is Weight Lifting because it has taught him patience, discipline, and the value of consistent effort. His favorite high school memory is when, at a Kirksville track meet, Cesar was sleeping in the bleachers, and Mr. Wilcox had to go get him because the boys' 4x2 relay was about to start.
The class Juan enjoyed the most was P.E because he got to play volleyball with his friends, which allowed them to learn the sport together and grow a stronger bond. His biggest pet peeve is people standing in the middle of the hallways as people are trying to get through.
Outside of school, Juan enjoys hanging out with his friends, going to the gym, and staying active throughout the day. If he had one wish, it would be for nobody to worry about taxes anymore. The three words that best describe him are kind, funny, and hardworking.
After High School, Juan plans to go into the workforce and eventually start his own landscaping business. In 10 years, he sees himself being financially stable and living back in Mexico with the rest of his family. Three things on his bucket list are to get closer to God, go skydiving, and travel to Japan.
The people he admires most are his parents because they always taught him to make good choices and to try in school, so he could have a better future. He appreciates them for all that they have sacrificed for him and been there for him in important times. He’s forever thankful for their unconditional love and support.
The teacher who had the biggest impact on Juan is Mr. Smith, because he helped him develop his English skills and grow as a student. He thanks him for all the money he spent on his Cat time to keep them fed.

Jonathan has been involved in Basketball(3) and Multi-Cultural club(1) at Milan C-2. His favorite high school memory is when the last school bell rang every year. The class Jonathan enjoyed the most was weights class with Mr. Cole because Mr. Cole always made the class fun.

The activity he enjoys most is Track because he gets to compete with others and himself, while meeting new people from around Missouri. His favorite high school memory is his sophomore year, when the football team won conference, districts, and made the final four.
The class Santiago enjoyed the most was Spanish 3 because they got to cook food from other countries, and Mrs. Gray always knew how to make you laugh. His biggest pet peeve is slow walkers and slow drivers.
Outside of school, Santiago enjoys fishing, cooking, lifting, and spending time with friends, family, and his girlfriend. If he had one wish, it would be to never have to pay for gas. The three words that best describe him are loud, energetic, and creative.

America has been involved in Softball (4), Basketball (3), Track (2), National Honor Society (2), Art Club (3), FFA (4), FBLA (4), Book Club (1), Student Council (2), Multicultural Club (3), Drama Club (1), and Educators Rising (4) at Milan C-2. The activity she enjoys most is FFA because she has had the opportunity to go to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis for the past 4 years. Her favorite high school memory is when the basketball team went to Branson in the summer.
The class America enjoyed the most was PE, because she enjoyed playing dodgeball, especially with classmate Logan Lea. Her biggest pet peeve is when people leave their shopping carts in the parking lot.
Outside of school, America enjoys raising chickens and rabbits. If she had one wish, it would be to accomplish her life goals. The three words that best describe her are hardworking, passionate, and driven.
After High School, America plans to attend NCMC for one year to finish taking her prerequisites and general education courses. After that, she plans to attend SFCC’s dental hygiene program to get a degree in dental hygiene. In 10 years, she sees herself as a dental hygienist with a small family, a couple of dogs, and some chickens. Three things on her bucket list are to visit Alaska, buy a jet ski, and go on a cruise.

Hayden Courtney will be a 2026 graduate of Milan C-2 High School and is the son of Jeff and Megan Courtney and brother of Haylee Courtney. His favorite activity to do with his family is going golfing together. His favorite childhood memory is riding four-wheelers around in their backyard.
Hayden has been involved in Football(4), FFA(4), Golf(4), National Honor Society(2), and Student Council(1) at Milan C-2. The activity he enjoys most is Football because even though practice sucked, it was still fun to practice with the team. His favorite high school memory is when they won the National Knowledge contest for FFA.
Outside of school, Hayden enjoys golfing, playing video games, and lifting weights. If he had one wish, it would be to travel the world and see every country.
After High School, Hayden plans to attend the University of Central Missouri, where he plans to get his commercial pilot's license and enter the Air Force. In 10 years, he sees himself retiring from the Air Force, where he will then become an airline pilot. Milan C2 is partnering with the Sullivan Co. Health Dept. to offer an immunization clinic on Thursday, March 26 at 9 AM. They will be offering school-required vaccines for 6th, 7th, and 11th-grade students. If your child is due for these vaccines, they will be bringing home a letter and consent form. Please return consent forms to the school nurse by Tuesday, March 24.
