🎉🎉2026 Senior Spotlight 🎉🎉Today, we’re celebrating one of our seniors! 🎓

Gerardo Alvarez Rodriguez will be a 2026 graduate of Milan C-2 High School and is the son of Angelica Rodriguez and Gerardo Vega, and is the brother of Juan Alvarez. His favorite activity to do with his family is traveling to Mexico. His favorite childhood memory is when he and his brother won 1st and 2nd in the elementary track and field day boys' 100m dash.

Gerardo has been involved in Football (1), FFA(1), and Track (4) at Milan C-2.  The activity he enjoys most is going to track practice and competing with his friends because that is what challenges him to become better.

His favorite high school memory is when he went to Kirksville's track meet, and Cesar was still in the bleachers sleeping while his teammates needed him down at the track to get warmed up and ready for the 4x2; they were the next heat.

The class Gerardo enjoyed the most was P.E because he enjoyed playing volleyball every day with his friends.  His biggest pet peeve is when people don't answer their phone calls or messages.  Outside of school, Gerardo enjoys being with his family and being outdoors with his brother.

If he had one wish, it would be to go back to the 5th and 6th grades and pass them so that he wouldn't miss his trip to Mexico with his parents. The three words that best describe him are athletic, humble, and quiet.

After High School, Gerardo plans to go to the workforce. In 10 years, he sees himself with a good job and owning a Shelby GT350. Three things on his bucket list are to travel to Japan, live in Mexico for a while, and hit 315 on the bench press.

The people he admires most are his mom and dad because his mom always told him to keep going and that anything is possible with God. His dad would say to put in the effort, and it will all pay off eventually.

The coaches who had the biggest impact on Gerardo are Coach Melnick and Coach Cole because Coach Melnick cared about making him and his teammates the best they could be, and Coach Cole because he saw potential in him and his teammates that they didn’t see in themselves.

The thing Gerardo will miss the most about Milan C-2 High School is playing volleyball with his friends in P.E and track season. If there was one way he could be remembered at MHS, it would be that he was decently athletic. The advice Gerardo would give underclassmen is to do it for your family, especially your parents, because they raised you and don't want to fail them.

🎉🎉2026 Senior Spotlight 🎉🎉Today, we’re celebrating one of our seniors! 🎓

Emmanuel Antonio Aguilar Beltran, known as Manny, will be a 2026 graduate of Milan C-2 High School and is the son of Jose Luis Aguilar and Manuela Beltran, and brother of Brenda, Luis, and Berry Aguilar. His favorite activity to do with his family is getting together for the day and shopping. His favorite childhood memory is going to Mexico every summer with his family.

Manny has been involved in Football (4 years), Track (4 years), FBLA (4 years), and Multicultural Club(1 year).  The activities he enjoys most are Football and Track because they allow him to compete with others and challenge himself. Even on the hardest practice days, he still finds joy in the experience. His favorite high school memory is when the football team was conference and district champions, and made it to the State Semi-Finals his sophomore year.

The class Manny enjoyed the most was Mrs. Coursey's because it allowed him to realize his skill and gave him a peaceful escape where he could enjoy time with his friends and have fun. His biggest pet peeve is people who are not genuine and act differently behind others' backs.

Outside of school, Manny enjoys spending time with friends and family, nature, working out, and fishing. If he had one wish, it would be that he fully embraced and took advantage of every opportunity life gave him. The three words that best describe him are low-key, uniquely funny, and compassionate.

After High School, Manny plans to attend Grand River Technical School and pursue a career in the Electrical Field. In 10 years, he sees himself becoming his own boss as an Electrical Contractor, settling down with a nice house and car, and having mostly what he has ever wanted. Three things on his bucket list are traveling the world, retiring his parents to repay them for their sacrifices, and reaching his fitness goals to become the strongest version of himself.

The person he admires most is his Dad because of his constant support, guidance, and the life lessons that shaped him. He taught him to give selflessly and lead by example, showing him what it truly means to be a good man.

The coach who had the biggest impact on Manny is Coach Mrs. Dabney, because she pushed him when he needed it most and never let him settle. She taught him to stop feeling sorry for himself, be disciplined and resilient, and to give his best effort at all times, lessons that go far beyond sports.

The thing Manny will miss the most about Milan C-2 High School is the moments that felt ordinary, laughing with his best friends, joking with teachers, and just being surrounded by people who made every day better. Especially the feeling of just being in a classroom with the people he grew up with, sharing those moments, and the memories that didn't seem big at the time but meant everything. It was a time being young, carefree, and a little clueless with them is something he knows he’ll never experience the same way again.

If there was one way he could be remembered at MHS, it would be for always showing up well-dressed, and carrying himself with confidence. The advice Manny would give underclassmen is to be true to who you are and do what makes you find joy and peace. Don't let others influence your decisions. Step out of your comfort zone and try new things, whether it's a sport, club, or activity; you might discover something you love. Choose positivity over drama and always value your time with the people closest to you, because those moments don't last forever.

Outside of school, Marian enjoys hanging out with her friends and family.  If she had one wish it would be for the ability to time travel. The three words that best describe her are competitive, conscientious, and compassionate.

After High School, Marian plans to attend Coe College to play basketball and obtain a degree in Exercise Science. In 10 years, she sees herself financially stable, married, and starting her own family. Three things on her bucket list are to meet Cailtin Clark, travel to Greece, and to own a pink Ford Bronco.

The person she admires most is her mom because no matter what she had going on she dropped whatever it was to support her and her brothers. She has shown her the importance of hard work, patience, and sacrifice for people. The way she handles life inspires Marian to grow and do her best.

The coach who had the biggest impact on Marian was Coach Hurley because of his strength and selflessness. No matter what was going on in his life, he still showed up every day and never let it affect how he coached. He showed her the importance of putting others first and staying strong even during tough times.
