Ashley Leilani Bahena, 2022 Senior
Ashley Leilani Bahena will be a 2022 graduate of Milan C-2 High School and is the daughter of Wendy Nunez and Reynaldo Bahena and sister of Leslie Bahena and Kaley Bahena. Her favorite activity to do with her family is getting together with extended family for barbecues and spending time together.
Ashley has been involved in Cheerleading 4 years, Topcats 2 years (received Academic All State), FFA 4 years (received most involved Freshman as well as a scholarship for her GPA), FBLA 5 years, Multicultural Club 3 years, Art Club 2 years, Science Olympiad 2 years, Speech and Debate 1 year, Scholar Bowl 2 years, and Upward Bound 3 years at Milan C-2.
The activity she enjoys most is FBLA because of all the competitions as well as trips she took with the chapter and her friends.
Her favorite high school memory is hard to pin down especially since all four years have been a blast with the exception of Covid that is. Ashley says she has met so many amazing people; with this being said one of her favorite memories was the paintball trip with FFA. The constant laughs and jokes on the bus ride there and back were great, especially being surrounded by some of the best people. She said she can’t say the same about the pain of the paintballs though; and she definitely won’t forget who shot her and left a gnarly welt. She didn’t want to name names, but . . . It was Darren.
The classes Ashley enjoyed the most was Art 3 with Mrs. Thompson and AWARE with Mrs. Gray because of the constant laughs and random conversations with her classmates. She said she will miss these moments with her peers a lot, but knows she doesn’t always acknowledge it in the moment.
Her biggest pet peeves are when she wants to go to the bathroom but there are 20 girls talking and crowding the bathroom and the constant “what…everrr” every 10 minutes or “yeah, that one” during class.
Outside of school, Ashley enjoys spending time with friends while having game nights, being with family, or spending time with her significant other when she gets the chance. If she had one wish it would be to be able to travel to the world at no expense and not have to worry about anything other than having fun. The three words that best describe her are bright, outgoing, and comforting.
After High School, Ashley plans to move to St. Louis and attend STLCC and study to become a Financial Aid Officer or a Sonographer. In 10 years, she sees herself enjoying her time while traveling to locations she only dreams to travel now alongside her significant other. Three things on her bucket list are to travel the world, go sky diving, and go to the Carnival Celebration in Rio de Janeiro.
The people Ashley admires most are her parents because of their constant love and acceptance for Ashley and her sisters. All the hard work they have put towards raising Ashley as well as encouragement through all of her extracurricular activities and new startups throughout high school is something that will never go unappreciated. They have helped shape her into the person she is today and for that she is grateful. Ashley said she holds an unmeasurable admiration for both of them.
The teacher that had the biggest impact on Ashley is hard to narrow down because various teachers have had an impact on her. If she had to choose just one, she said she would choose Mrs. Nina Gray. Ashley said Mrs. Gray has always been a teacher that not only helps her students learn but indulges in conversation and a quick laugh when it is needed. Ashley only had Mrs. Gray for one year of Spanish, but she also spent time with her as the multicultural club advisor and they always had a blast. Mrs. Gray has always been there for Ashley and has never been one to judge. Many may think Mrs. Gray is tough but her toughness can be misunderstood for her desire to want to teach her students to the best of her abilities. She is definitely a teacher Ashley will miss greatly along with many others.
The thing Ashley will miss the most about Milan C-2 High School is sitting in a class with the same classmates as she has been with for 12+ years, and Mrs. Ali’s biscuits and gravy.
If there was one way she could be remembered at MHS, it would be as the individual who stopped at nothing to make every day a happy day, not only for herself but for others; who was part of a class that was practically a family and always will be!
The advice Ashley would give underclassmen is, “Work hard, but NEVER forget to have fun and be your best self! Your time in high school will fly by, you may not think so but it’ll go by in a blink of an eye.”

Eric Riley Hines will be a 2022 graduate of Milan C-2 High School and is the son of Harley and Brenda Greybuffalo and brother of Suellen Probasco and Samantha Hines. Eric's favorite activity with his family is hanging out and playing any game with them. His favorite childhood memory was when he and his siblings made a mudslide on the side of the cellar at home.
Eric is involved in Band, FFA, Track, Football, and Upward Bound at Milan C-2. The activity he enjoys most is band because he has always loved music and intends to go into a career in music. His favorite high school memory is when he and his best friend ate taco bell diablo sauce at a track meet and threw up afterward.
The class Eric enjoyed the most was band because of all the stupid conversations they had and the fun he had playing. His biggest pet peeve is when people lie to your face about something that doesn't matter
Outside of school, Eric enjoys playing video games and having fun with friends. If he had one wish it would be to have his best friend Draven back. The three words that best describe him are intelligent, funny, and friendly.
After High School, Eric plans to go to Northwest Missouri State University and pursue a career in music education. In 10 years, he sees himself working in a small school somewhere in Missouri. Three things on his bucket list are getting married, having kids, and living a happy life.
The person he admires most is his mother because she has dealt with the world and came out smiling. The teacher that had the biggest impact on Eric is Mr. Waugh because he has reignited the flame he had for music.
Eric will mostly miss seeing his friends. If there was one thing he could be remembered for at MHS, it would be the kindness he showed others. The advice Eric would give underclassmen is, “Have fun while you're here it flies by.”
