Milan C-2 is excited to welcome Ms. Andrea “Andi” Smith to the Wildcat family! Ms. Smith will be teaching 7th Grade Reading, 7th Grade Writing, Social Studies, and Health.
Ms. Smith has a special connection to Milan—she attended Milan during 6th and 7th grade before moving to Colorado, where she later graduated from Pueblo South High School. She attended Pueblo Community College, Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology, and Fort Hays State University in Kansas.
Before becoming an educator, Ms. Smith spent 18 years as a veterinary technician. At age 40, she returned to college to earn her bachelor’s degree and pursue teaching through an alternative licensure program. She taught special education in Colorado for four years and also served as a long-term 9th grade math substitute during her fourth year.
Outside of school, Ms. Smith loves hiking, walking, fishing, swimming, hunting, gardening, and spending time with animals—especially pigs and cows! She has two sons, Wyatt, 21, who recently graduated from Spartan College to become an airline mechanic, and a 14-year-old son who will be a freshman at Milan this year. Her younger son enjoys dirt bikes, football, and wrestling. Both of her sons participated in 4-H in Colorado, where the family showed turkeys and raised pigs.
Ms. Smith grew up in Missouri, primarily in Mooresville near Chillicothe, and she is thrilled to be back home. She is especially looking forward to meeting her students and beginning this new chapter as a Wildcat!

Milan FFA Chapter Name Receives $3000 Grant from Smithfield Foods
The Milan FFA Chapter was recently awarded a $3000 grant from Smithfield
Foods to support the next generation of agricultural leaders through leadership skill development and career exploration in agriculture.
“This grant is vital in helping ensure our students are able to participate in a multitude of leadership events that would not have been feasible before,” said Logan Fullerton, Milan FFA advisor.
The Milan FFA Chapter will use this funding to pay FFA affiliate dues for the chapter for the 2026-2027 school year. A portion of this grant was also used to make the final payment for students to attend the Missouri FFA Leadership Camp this summer, which helped students gain hands-on experiences, build critical skills, and advance their leadership potential.
This initiative was part of the 2026 Smithfield Foods Chapter Grant Program, funded by
a $150,000 donation from Smithfield to the National FFA Foundation. With this contribution,
Smithfield has invested more than $450,000 to support local FFA chapters in the communities
where Smithfield operates since 2024. To learn more about Smithfield’s efforts to strengthen

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Stephanie Somers to the Milan C-2 family! 💚💛
Mrs. Somers will serve as our 5th & 6th Grade Reading Teacher. A proud Milan C-II High School graduate, she is excited to return to the district where her educational journey began.
Mrs. Somers attended the University of Missouri and later earned her degree from William Woods University. As she begins her 33rd year in education, she is thrilled to see her teaching career come full circle by returning home to Milan. She looks forward to sharing her passion for reading with students and making a positive impact in the classroom.
Outside of school, Mrs. Somers enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and making crafts. She is also a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals, and she loves cheering on her favorite teams. At home, she is accompanied by her Boston Terrier, Roxie.
Family is at the heart of Mrs. Somers' life. She is the widow of her late husband, Scott Somers, and treasures the love and support of her family. Her father is CJ Michael, and her sister is Shelly Forster. She is also a proud aunt to Alyssa Bankus and Drew Forster, and she loves spending time with her great-nieces and great-nephew, Raylen, Marley, and Sophie, with another great-niece expected to arrive this fall.
