🎉🎉2025 Senior Spotlight 🎉🎉Kylee Dawn Smith will be a 2025 graduate of Milan C-2 High School. She is the daughter of Stacey Bowe and Gingo Smith and the sister of Greyson Smith. Her favorite activity to do with her family is relaxing and watching movies. Her favorite childhood memory is going to her Grandma Mary’s every day before school and sitting on her Grandpa’s lap to watch Looney Tunes. Kylee has been involved in Cheer (4) where she spent 1 year as captain, TopCats (3) where she spent 1 year as captain, FFA (4), Upward Bound (3), National Honor Society (2), Art Club (2), FBLA (2), Golf (1), Color Guard(1), Multicultural Club (1), Science Club (1), Student Council (1). She received the reward, Most Involved Wildcat, in the year 2023-2024 at Milan C-2. The activity she enjoys most is TopCats because she believes that life is like a dancefloor; you have to ignore the moves everyone else is making and dance to your rhythm. Her favorite high school memories were the factors leading up to breaks. Also, being able to miss school with it being excused.  The class Kylee enjoyed the most was Anatomy and Physiology because Mrs. Herrington always made the content enjoyable, there was never a dull moment. Kylee’s biggest pet peeve is when people act like they have no brain or common sense.  Outside of school, Kylee enjoys watching movies with family and friends, riding around with friends, and going out to eat. If she had one wish, it would be to bring her grandpas back and be able to spend time with them: watching TV, going hunting, and eating Reese's peanut butter cups. The three words that best describe her are firecracker, straightforward, and sassy. After High School, Kylee plans to attend North Central Missouri College where she will receive a nursing degree. She plans to go to nursing school to become an LPN in the first year and an RN in the second year. In 10 years, she sees herself having her own house, starting a family, and working in a big hospital as an RN in the emergency room. Three things on her bucket list are to travel to Dubai, create a wonderful family, and make enough money to buy all the shoes in the world. The person she admires most is her mom because no matter what life throws at her, she constantly keeps pushing and never gives up. She is the strongest person she knows and continues to push her to be the best version of herself. Life is not always easy, but she finds the light in each day. Her mom has always done anything and everything to make sure Kylee is happy and living the best life. Days are not always perfect as mother and daughter but in the end, Kylee’s mom could never love her more than she does now.  The coach who had the biggest impact on Kylee is Coach Holt because she never gave up on her and continued to see the potential she had. Kylee regards Coach Holt as the best coach to have for cheer and dance. She expresses that there has never been a dull moment in practice or games. Bus rides to away games always gave her and her teammates the opportunity to bond and become closer, especially with the coaches. Kylee asserts that Coach Holt always felt like a mom to her at school. Thank You, Coach Holt, for being a role model and having such a kind heart.  The thing Kylee will miss the most about Milan C-2 High School is being able to see the underclassmen girls that she is close with in the halls. If there was one way she could be remembered at MHS, it would be as a cheerleader for the little ones.  The advice Kylee would give underclassmen is to appreciate the little things and make the most of them. Ask questions and be responsible for your grades, so your parents do not have to. Be involved in everything. Go to prom and dress up for spirit weeks. Overall, slow down and do not take the time you have left for granted because it goes by faster than you could imagine.  “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” - C.S. Lewis

🎉🎉2025 Senior Spotlight 🎉🎉Annamarie Smith will be a 2025 graduate of Milan C-2 High School. She is the granddaughter of Anita and Terry Smith. Her favorite family activity is going on summer vacation with her grandparents and cousins. Her favorite childhood memory is going to Universal Studios in Florida for the first time. Annamarie has been involved in softball (4), track (4), band (4), NHS (2), and art club (1) at Milan C-2. The activity she enjoys most is track because it is a very individualized activity that helps build independence and allows her to meet many new people. Her favorite high school memory is when she got the Milan High School long jump record during her freshman year. The class Annamarie enjoyed the most was Ecology because of the people in the class and the friendly atmosphere. Her biggest pet peeve is when people talk with food in their mouths.   Outside of school, Annamarie enjoys late-night food runs to Kirksville with her friends. If she had one wish, it would be to own a black ‘79 Pontiac Firebird. The three words that best describe her are energetic, ambitious, and athletic. After High School, Annamarie plans to attend NCMC to finish her prerequisites and then transfer over to NCMC Savannah to get her Radiologic Technology degree. In 10 years, she sees herself working as a radiology technician. Three things on her bucket list are to visit Australia, get a tattoo, and learn how to ice skate. The people she admires most are her grandparents because they took time out of their lives to take care of her. The teacher who had the biggest impact on Annamarie is Mrs. Gittemeier; she’s always there to listen when Annamarie needs someone to talk to and never fails to bring a smile to her face. The thing Annamarie will miss the most about Milan C-2 High School is all the amazing people she has become friends with over the years. If there was one way she could be remembered at MHS, it would be how she always strived to help others. The advice Annamarie would give underclassmen is not to be lazy and put in the work because it will pay out in the end.

🎉🎉2025 Senior Spotlight 🎉🎉Destiny De Leon will be a 2025 graduate of Milan C-2 High School. She is the daughter of Nelson and Rosa De Leon and sister of Milan Alumnus, Nelson De Leon. Her favorite family activities are watching movies together and going on vacation. Her favorite childhood memory is sleeping over at her cousins’ house and pulling all-nighters.  Destiny has been involved in Cheerleading (4), as she was team captain her senior year; Basketball (3), FBLA (2); FFA (4), where she was this year’s President; Multicultural Club (1); Art Club (1); NHS (2); Student Council (1), she served as Vice President; and Class Officer (4) where she serves as this year’s Class President at Milan C-2. The activity she enjoys most is FFA because it connected her to some of her closest friends, taught her how to advocate for herself and others, and has given her the opportunity to visit various places such as Indianapolis IN, and Washington D.C. while learning about the different sectors of agriculture. Her favorite high school memory is when she tricked Ms. Fullerton into believing there was a rat in the greenhouse and watched her scream and jump 5 feet in the air. The class Destiny enjoyed the most was Food Science/Animal Science with Ms. Fullerton because aside from learning cooking and baking skills Ms. Fullerton taught us how to be conscious consumers of the animal products we buy.  Her biggest pet peeve is when people chew with their mouths open. Outside of school, Destiny enjoys spending time with her family, especially sharing a cup of coffee with her grandmother. If she had one wish, it would be to travel the world without expenses. The three words that best describe her are diligent, passionate, and caring.  After High School, Destiny plans to attend North Central Missouri College to pursue a degree in Radiologic Technology and expand her practice to other modalities. She hopes to become a valuable asset to the medical field and provide patients with the utmost care. In 10 years, she sees herself established in the radiology department at a hospital close to her family while starting her own. Three things on her bucket list are seeing the Northern Lights, meeting a capybara, and writing a book.  The person she admires most is her mother because her mother has taught her what hard work and dedication looks like. She has taught Destiny that our weaknesses are sometimes our biggest strengths. Her mother is the reason she continues to stay involved in her endeavors because she will always be in her corner rooting for her. The teacher who had the biggest impact on Destiny is Ms. Fullerton because she helped her get out of her shell and become more involved in FFA. Without Ms. Fullerton, Destiny feels that she would have never discovered her true passion for agriculture and public speaking.  The thing Destiny will miss the most about Milan C-2 High School is seeing her friends all day in the Ag department. If there was one way she could be remembered at MHS, it would be someone that was easy to get along with and a role model for younger students. The advice Destiny would give underclassmen is to get involved and stay true to yourself. Being involved will make your high school career unforgettable and allow you to create bonds with the people you’d least expect.
